仕事内容 We are looking for a strong candidate to join our legal team to (1) provide contract support and legal advisory to Chanel’s business in Japan and to (2) implement our compliance programs meeting both the local legal requirements as well as global group policy.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Counsel in Japan and work in close cooperation with Chanelʼs global compliance/business ethics team that oversee Compliance matters globally. Your role will require you to work closely with your counter parts in all regions as well as our IT, HR and operational teams.

About the Job
Your role consists of the following main deliverables:

<Contract Support and Legal Advisory>

• Provide support to Chanel’s business units through contract creation and contract review on matters such as: lease contracts for POS, contracts with department stores, vendor contracts, contracts related to research and development, ambassador and influencer contracts, real estate contracts, employment and other labor related contracts
• Conduct legal research and provide guidance on existing and new developments in regulations that would impact Chanel’s business, such as advertisement law, regulations related non-financial reporting, regulations related to product safety
• Provide legal advisory to business stakeholders to avoid/prepare for risks and potential disputes
• Provide advisory from legal standpoint to support assessment of business risk levels to enable well-informed decision and strategy by business stakeholders
• Enhance operational flow related to handling of contracts to ensure agility and effectiveness of legal support while realizing adequate governance and control

<Compliance>

Implementation of Compliance Policies and Best Practices:
• Lead deploying Chanel’s global compliance program locally through orchestration of training and other initiatives to drive culture of compliance.
• Lead the implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures specific for the Japan market, interacting with the global compliance team as necessary.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify areas of regulatory risk and address them proactively and effectively

Stakeholder Engagement:
• Work closely with various departments to ensure awareness and adherence to compliance requirements.
• Manage and provide facilitation to the regional compliance committee
• Promote compliance culture.

Compliance Training and Education:
• Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Promote compliance awareness and education throughout the organization.
• Implement training programs that pertain to compliance

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and facilitate their resolution.
• Establish and monitor compliance metrics and KPIs to measure adherence to policies and regulations.

Regulatory Investigations:
• Act as contact point for regulators for investigations
• Coordinate internally for submission of necessary documents in relation to investigations・audit

Compliance Advisory:
• Provide advisory services to key transformation programs to ensure compliance by design.
• Participate in global compliance councils to represent regional interests and align objectives.

Compliance Committee:
• Provide operational support to Compliance Committee, comprised of General Counsel, Chief Finance Office and Chief Huaman Resources Officer.

Under his/her role, the successful candidate will drive compliance in areas such as: subcontractor law, competition-law, Labor law, Fair-trade associated regulation, bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, etc.

9:30~18:00(休憩60分)を基本とするスーパーフレックスタイム制度を導入。 深夜を除く時間帯で、個人の裁量に基づいた柔軟な働き方が可能です。

応募資格

【必須(MUST)】

• Bachelor’s degree in Law. Admission to the bar is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in top-tier law firms or in-house legal departments
• 5+ years of experience in compliance management, risk assessment, and regulatory adherence.
• Experience in legal/compliance roles within luxury retail or similar industries is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills (including creation of presentation materials) with the ability to influence others.
• Mid-to-strong project management and change management skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong intercultural communication skills.
• Ability to leverage digital applications and platforms to create effective education program
• Language: Business level Japanese and English (this role requires communication with the global team and participation in global meetings)
