The Japanese power market is a uniquely vibrant market where the 2016 liberalization of the market marked a pivotal transition towards increased opportunities and expanded service offerings for customers. In April 2025, JERA Co., Inc. and EDF Trading Ltd integrated their respective Japanese power trading businesses into JERA Global Markets, the exclusive fuels optimizer and joint venture of both companies. Position Description This role is for an analyst to join the front-office trading analytics team, supporting trading decisions in Japan’s wholesale electricity markets through the use, operation, and continuous improvement of analytical and decision-support models. You will work across forecasting and fundamental analysis, taking day-to-day ownership of in-house analytical frameworks that directly support trading decisions. These include stack-based price formation models, electricity demand forecasting models, and renewable and hydro generation models, which form the analytical foundation for understanding market dynamics, identifying trading opportunities, and managing risk exposure across different time horizons. The position requires a strong understanding of power market mechanisms, the ability to interpret and challenge model outputs using market intuition, and bilingual communication skills to collaborate effectively with traders, quantitative teams, and data engineers in a fast-paced front-office environment. Key Role Responsibilities Market Interpretation & Structural Analysis • Monitor and interpret key developments in Japan’s power market using fundamental and model-based analysis, identifying key drivers across supply, demand, fuel, weather, and policy. • Identify structural shifts, emerging risks, or regime changes in the market and communicate potential implications for trading positions and decision-making. Scenario Analysis & Trading Support • Perform scenario, stress-test, and sensitivity analyses based on fundamental and analytical models, covering extreme weather events, system constraints, outages, fuel price shocks, and policy changes. • Contribute to the development of trading views and market outlooks with a strong commercial focus, balancing analytical rigor with practical decision-making needs. Analytical Tools & Insights Delivery • Take ownership of the day-to-day use of internal analytical tools and datasets, ensuring timely execution, monitoring, and interpretation of model outputs for the trading desk. • Proactively identify areas where analytical or modelling improvements can enhance decision-making efficiency, robustness, and transparency. Cross-Team Communication & Coordination • Present analytical findings clearly to both domestic and overseas stakeholders, enabling aligned trading strategies across regions and teams. • Work closely with risk management, quantitative, and IT teams to ensure smooth operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of market intelligence workflows. |

| 応募資格 |
【必須（MUST）】 • Strong understanding of power market fundamentals, with the ability to interpret, validate, and challenge model outputs using real-world system intuition. This includes economic drivers such as generator cost structures, merit order formation, and emissions markets, as well as technical drivers including dynamic demand, load flows, and the use and limitations of numerical weather prediction model outputs.• Solid understanding of Japan’s electricity market structure, including spot price formation mechanisms, futures markets, and balancing markets, with the ability to place analytical results within the context of market rules, operational practices, and ongoing market evolution. • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in power market analytics for electricity trading, forecasting, dispatch modelling, or closely related quantitative or analytical roles, with demonstrated exposure to real market decision-making. • Proficiency in Python, particularly pandas, with the ability to work independently on data processing, model execution, result validation, and basic model adaptation. Experience with statistical or machine learning libraries (e.g. sklearn) is beneficial. • Fluency in both Japanese and English. For Japanese nationals, the ability to communicate effectively in English in a business environment, both verbally and in writing. For non-Japanese nationals, a strong command of Japanese, including the ability to read market regulations, analyze Japanese-language data sources, and actively participate in internal and external discussions. 【歓迎（WANT）】 • Experience working with structured datasets using SQL or similar technologies, particularly in environments built on modern data platforms such as Databricks.• Familiarity with dashboarding and data visualization in analytical platforms (e.g. Databricks dashboards). Experience with enterprise BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau is considered an advantage.
