世界銀行グループは、途上国に資金と知識を提供する世界最大規模の援助機関の一つです。 貧困のない世界を目指して、途上国の経済・社会の発展、生活水準の向上、持続的成長を支援するための国際機関として1944年に設立されました。 現在、170カ国以上の国籍の職員たちが約140カ国で途上国開発のためのインフラ、保健、教育、気候変動、ジェンダーなど、国際協力の幅広い分野を支援しています。 【職務内容】 データの管理と発信を通じた社会統計の強化に貢献。内外のパートナーとの人間開発分野におけるデータ・アジェンダの調整。世界銀行グループ内部のスコアカードや国連SDGsなどの社会統計分野への戦略的データアドバイザリーの提供。 【募集の背景】 開発経済担当副総裁室（DECVP）は、世界銀行における研究とデータの中核拠点として機能し、グローバル開発知識の推進と、政策・事業運営に資するエビデンスに基づく知見の提供を担います。 DECVP内において、開発データグループ（DECDG）は銀行のデータガバナンスを主導し、開発研究、政策対話、および機関全体ならびにクライアント国における事業運営上の意思決定を支える高品質な統計・分析を提供しています。 DECDG内の指標・統計ユニットは、影響力の大きいグローバル開発データ製品を生産し、幅広い技術的データサービスを提供します。 データサイエンティスト、経済学者、統計学者からなるこの学際的チームは、世界開発指標（WDI）、国際債務統計（IDS）、世界統合貿易ソリューション（WITS）などの基幹データベースを管理しています。 【部署名】 開発経済総局／指標・統計ユニット／開発データグループ 【勤務地】 ワシントンDC本部 ***************************************************************************** 【Title】Statistician 【Division/VPU】 Development Data Group, Indicators and Statistics (DECIS)/ Development Economics Vice Presidency (DECVP) 【BACKGROUND】 The Development Economics Vice Presidency (DECVP) serves as the World Bank’s central hub for research and data, advancing global development knowledge and providing evidence-based insights to inform policy and operations. Within DECVP, the Development Data Group (DECDG) leads the Bank’s data governance and delivers high-quality statistics and analytics that underpin development research, policy dialogue, and operational decision-making across the institution and its client countries. The Indicator and Statistics Unit within DECDG produces high-impact global development data products and delivers a broad spectrum of technical data services. This multidisciplinary team of data scientists, economists, and statisticians manages flagship databases, including the World Development Indicators (WDI), the International Debt Statistics (IDS), and the World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS). 【DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES】 Reporting to the Manager, Indicator and Statistics, the Mid-Career Professional will: • Advance Social Statistics through Data Management and Dissemination • Coordinate the Bank’s Data Agenda in Human Development (HD) • Provide Strategic Data Advisory for Global and Corporate Monitoring 【SELECTION CRITERIA】 • A post-graduate degree in statistics or related socio-economic fields (e.g., sociology, international development, gender) with a solid quantitative focus and at least 5 years relevant experience in data management. • Excellent knowledge and experience in international development and gender. • Good working knowledge of modern statistics, scripting, and programming languages such as STATA, R, and Python and associated software libraries. • Expertise with data visualization and presentation tools (Tableau, R Shiny, ggplot, etc.) • Experience with version control tools (such as Git, Github, etc.) • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve errors and inconsistencies as part of a comprehensive quality control process. • Strong written and communication skills • Ability and desire to seek the knowledge needed to complete assignments, share them with others, and advance in data dissemination. • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to comfortably work across diverse teams and cultural backgrounds to understand various perspectives and communicate effectively. • High professional enthusiasm and commitment to the World Bank’s core values and mission. 【Duty Location】 Washington, D.C. |
