A leading global alternatives investment platform with a long standing presence across Asia is seeking a Managing Director / Head of Japan to lead its Japan business. The role carries full responsibility for origination, portfolio oversight, senior stakeholder engagement, and platform growth in Japan. The firm has recently established a new portfolio company in Japan, with plans to build 4–5 additional portfolio investments over the coming years, supported by a global platform managing USD 135bn＋ in assets and over 25 years of experience across Asia. This is a senior leadership role suited to a buy－side–oriented investment professional with deep Japan market experience and strong M＆A and origination credentials. Key Responsibilities Japan Platform Leadership • Act as Country Head for Japan, with responsibility for investment activity, portfolio oversight, and strategic growth. • Lead the build－out and scaling of the Japan platform in line with global strategy. • Represent the firm with senior external stakeholders, including institutional investors, corporates, and financial partners. Origination ＆ M＆A Execution • Lead investment origination in Japan, with a strong focus on proprietary opportunities. • Drive M＆A execution, including transaction structuring, negotiation, due diligence, and investment committee processes. • Oversee commercial, operational, and strategic due diligence （sell－side CDD experience viewed positively）. Portfolio Management • Maintain senior oversight of Japan－based portfolio companies, working closely with management teams and boards. • Support value creation initiatives and long－term strategic planning. • Monitor performance, risk, and exit readiness. Stakeholder ＆ Relationship Management • Develop and manage senior relationships with: • Japanese financial institutions （e.g. large banks, asset managers, institutional investors） • Infrastructure and private equity GPs • International corporates with investment experience • Act as a trusted partner to co－investors and strategic stakeholders. |
| 応募資格 |
【必須（MUST）】 Required Experience• Deep professional and cultural understanding of the Japan market. • 15＋ years’ experience in investment－related roles with a strong Japan focus. • Proven M＆A and origination track record （mandatory）. • Strong portfolio management experience. • Experience on the buy－side is strongly preferred, including: • Infrastructure GPs • Private Equity GPs （with infrastructure / renewables exposure） • Merchant investment platforms （e.g. principal investing arms） • Sell－side backgrounds （investment banking） considered where there is: • Significant M＆A and origination exposure • Strong transaction leadership experience • Clear transition capability to a principal investor role Acceptable Backgrounds • Buy－side investment professionals （preferred） • Investment banking / M＆A professionals with deep sector expertise • Broader asset management or financial institutions with infrastructure investment exposure |
