Lead a new luxury fragrance brand in Japan. Scope of the Role The General Manager – Fragrance (Japan) will be responsible for leading the launch and expansion of prestige fragrance brands, starting with Miu Miu and extending to additional brands within the portfolio, in the Japanese market. The role involves building brand presence across premium fashion channels, buyer stores, multi-brand fragrance retailers, and e-commerce platforms, while also exploring innovative activations such as pop-ups. The Brand Manager will ensure brand strategies are adapted to local consumer preferences while maintaining global identity, driving growth, visibility, and profitability. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities · Lead the market entry and rollout plan for Miu Miu and other fragrance brands across Japan, with a strong focus on fashion-led channels, multi-brand fragrance retailers, and premium distribution partners. · Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for brand positioning, awareness, and sales growth aligned with global brand guidelines. · Support third party execution partners and follow up on plans already in pipeline. · Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with distribution partners, retailers, and e-commerce platforms. · Design and implement innovative consumer activation plans, including exclusive brand events, pop-ups, and retail collaborations. · Working with local marketing firms, drive visibility and engagement through localized marketing strategies, PR collaborations, social media campaigns, and influencer partnerships. · Define pricing, promotional calendars, and assortment strategies tailored to the Japanese market consumer and competitive environment. · Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, consumer insights, and sales data to refine strategies and increase market share. · Partner closely with global and regional teams to ensure alignment on brand standards, visual merchandising, and new product launches. · Oversee forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and P&L accountability for the category in Japan. · Follow up with required logistics and importing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations · Lead the e-commerce strategy, ensuring best-in-class online brand representation, content optimization, and digital campaigns. ________________________________________ Experience Required · 7–10 years of experience in brand management, fragrance/beauty management, or luxury goods marketing, with a proven track record in the Japanese market. · Experience in launching or managing global/luxury brands in Japan with a strong understanding of fashion and lifestyle distribution channels. · Strong commercial acumen with expertise in channel development, retail partnerships, and e-commerce management. · Native-level proficiency in Japanese is required. · Proficiency in Mandarin (preferred) or English (acceptable alternative); Mandarin carries higher weight. · Strong understanding of consumer behaviour in Japan’s fragrance and luxury sector. · Excellent analytical skills for sales forecasting, market trend analysis, and performance measurement. · Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with global brand stakeholders. · Entrepreneurial mindset with hands-on approach, creativity, and resilience in navigating a new market entry. · Ability to manage multiple internal and external stake holders and work well with colleagues and principal team members in China and Japan. ________________________________________ Benefits · Be the pioneer brand lead for the launch of iconic fragrance houses in the Japanese market. · Competitive compensation package with attractive performance-based incentives. · Opportunity to shape and establish the foundation of a global fragrance brand’s presence in Japan. · Exposure to both regional and global networks within luxury and beauty. · Creative autonomy to design and execute impactful brand activations and partnerships. · Dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment with meaningful ownership of market development. |
