------------------------------------------------ TBWA\Media Arts Lab ------------------------------------------------ TBWA\Media Arts Lab is the global network dedicated to Apple advertising. The agency was founded on the core premise of “media ideas, artfully told” and was born out of a desire for a confidential, bespoke advertising network focused solely on creating iconic work for our only client. Today, our relationship with Apple is over 40 years old and Media Arts Lab now has 8 hub offices around the world managing advertising in 20+ markets. ------------------------------------------------ Purpose of the role ------------------------------------------------ The Account Director will help to oversee the account management function and lead the day-to-day operational execution of all projects across designated pods and ongoing projects. ------------------------------------------------ Key responsibilities ------------------------------------------------ ■ Project delivery Oversee project activity across specified pods and facilitate the members of the account management department in the flawless execution of the localisation, amplification and origination process so that campaigns are delivered in accordance with the campaign strategy and to the high standard expected by MAL and our client. Definition of 3 types of work: 1. Localisation: Adaptation of global creative to address legal, comprehension, and/or cultural issues; meant to ensure all ideas can run globally. 2. Amplification: Global creative platform adapted to address a local business problem or opportunity. 3. Origination: Bespoke local campaign to address a local business problem or opportunity. ◎Localisation - Orchestrate adaptation process, work on global and regional briefs as required. - Be point of contact to LA team - Be responsible for quality control. - Maintain campaign schedules for specific region. - Summarise post-campaign documents. - Author campaign overview. - Work with planning to provide Japan specific strategy, with understanding of Japan culture and consumer’s insight/behavior. - Ensure localised creative matches campaign strategy. - Supervise Account Executives and Junior Account Executives. - Be responsible for updating the budget status. - Control production estimates by working closely with production departments. - Build a strong relationship with partnering agency (OMD Hakuhodo) and local clients. - Manage team workflow and internal resource effectively, including local TBWA resource. ◎Amplification/Origination - Be point of contact to LA team. - Be responsible for quality control. - Maintain campaign schedules for the project. - Author campaign overview. - Work with planning to provide brief and strategy. - Supervise Account Executives and Junior Account Executives. - Control production estimates and process by working closely with production departments. - Build a strong relationship with local clients. - Manage team workflow and internal resource effectively. ■ Client Liaison Build a strong relationship with the local client and become a thought leadership. Demonstrate a full understanding of the client’s business in Japan, Japanese consumer’s insight and behavior, and business objectives with a view to strategically identifying opportunities to extend existing global campaigns on a local market basis. ■ LA Liaison Maintain close communication and collaborate with account/project management team in LA providing project status updates, flagging issues and potential solutions as well as ensuring local market opportunities, insights, context and culture are well represented. Ensure that important updates from LA are disseminated as necessary throughout the Tokyo office. Liaise with department heads in Tokyo so that campaigns, be they localisation or amplification, are conceived, developed and executed in the most efficient way possible. ■ Departmental Leadership Play a leading role in the account management function and ensure that the team is structured, resourced and that all work is allocated correctly in order to deliver ongoing work scope and have the foresight to anticipate future needs. Take responsibility for team reviews and the talent development process with a view to growing the capabilities of all members of the account management team. ■ Culture & Employee Engagement Be a prominent member of the Tokyo agency and help to build an office culture characterised by engagement, collaboration and a genuine enjoyment to work for TBWA Media Arts Lab on the Apple account. ■ General Undertake ad-hoc duties / project work, on a permanent or temporary basis, as directed, that may sit outside of the ‘key responsibilities’ detailed above but that is broadly and reasonably in-keeping with the remit of the Account Director role. ------------------------------------------------ What will success in this role look like? ------------------------------------------------ - Having a great relationship with the client. - Delivering successfully all the projects. - Having a clear understanding of all the projects (process, challenges and opportunities), regarding production and media. - Consistently working to improve the process flow of all projects in search of ever greater efficiency. - Being like an engine to drive everyday process of all projects, other department colleagues and local clients to successfully launch the campaigns. |
