Patent Manager – Research ＆ Innovation – Japan Location: A Day in the Life As a Patent Manager, you will report to the Head of Industrial Property （IP） ＆ Legal R＆I for North Asia and play a pivotal role in driving innovation forward. You will: • Drive IP Strategies: Lead the construction and implementation of IP strategies for inventions generated by JP innovation teams, including patent filing, prosecution, portfolio management, right－to－market analysis, and defend our patented territories from third parties, with the strong assistance of outside patent firms and, when needed, of the IP ＆ Legal R＆I head for North ♙sia. • Training ＆ Awareness: Elevate the IP awareness of innovation teams through training programs. • Cross－Hub Collaboration: Coordinate with other IP teams globally on transversal projects across research facilities. • Strategic Advising: Advise the Research management team in R＆I Japan on IP matters, including litigation. • Legal Support: Review and approve IP schemes in contracts in collaboration with the Legal and Business Development teams. • Contribute to the monitoring of competitors ‘environment, both from a patent and product standpoint. • Share knowledge and expertise in patents, including Japanese practice, with all other IP teams throughout the world and build and develop a strong network with IP practitioners in Japan. We Are Looking For You’re a great match if you have: • Core Skills: Intellectual Property knowledge, Legal Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Analytical Thinking, and Cross－Cultural Collaboration. • Competencies: o Ability to multi－task and manage complexity. o Highly analytical yet interpersonal, resilient, and persistent. o Demonstrates entrepreneurship and acts with human sensitivity. o Displays sensitivity to métiers and achieves results. • Requirements: o BS in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or similar （advanced degrees preferred）. o Registered patent attorney with experience in patent counseling, drafting, and prosecution. o Proficiency in English and Japanese （written and oral）. o Experience working in a multinational and multicultural environment.
