Real-world evidence (RWE) is an increasingly important capability and is vital for our organization to remain competitive, support value demonstration and access for our medicine. Given changing internal and external requirements, we have developed and implemented an evidence generation framework known as Integrated Evidence Generation (IEG) in order to better use of internal resources and deliver more timely, impactful and stakeholder-relevant RWE. Over the last two years, we have learned its current strengths and opportunities, and continue investing, building, and implementing an effective and successful IEG operating model further to enable crossfunctionality and drive RWE transformation.

PURPOSE:

The role of ‘Associate Director, Real-World Evidence’ is an individual contributor role responsible for providing strategic oversight and guidance as well as operational support on observational research/ real-world data & evidence initiatives that are pursued by internal teams, such as the Medical Affairs and Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) teams. The incumbent must have deep knowledge and extensive experience with Real-world Data (RWD) and Observational Research (OR)/ RWE generation, to partner with the Head of HEOR and RWE Japan in developing the overall RWE strategy at organization, and to provide expert guidance and direction to internal teams on local RWE planning, generation, study delivery, external communication and stakeholder engagement plans, strategic data acquisition and building of internal RWE capabilities. In order to shape the future direction of RWE at BMS Japan in line with business objectives, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strategic thinking, strong communication, leadership and influencing skills, and successful past experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in a matrix organization. This position will report to the Head of HEOR and RWE Japan at Value, Access and Pricing (VAP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Head of HEOR and RWE Japan to assess and evaluate the internal and external RWE environment in order to help develop, execute and refine the overall strategy for RWE at BMS Japan in line with business objectives • Serve as the subject matter expert able to provide expert guidance and direction to Medical Affairs and HEOR teams (and partner divisions as needed) on study ideation, evidence gap assessment, feasibility assessments, study protocol development, statistical analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results in order to deliver timely, impactful and stakeholder-relevant RWE in Japan

• Collaborate and align with WW HEOR and Medical (and other WW partner functions), and establish a well-coordinated and effective partnership between the local team(s) and the internal ‘Center for Observations Research and Data Science (CORDS)’

• Lead RWE capability building to drive transformation, and develop internal and external partnerships and educational activities on RWE issues including strategy, awareness, and methodology

• In collaboration with local and WW teams, develop and maintain knowledge of real-world data (RWD) sources, and increase access to Japan RWD sources • Develop roadmaps to integrate and scale the use of cutting-edge methodologies (e.g., artificial intelligence) into RWE initiatives and studies, as appropriate • Lead communication and engagement with external stakeholders that create new opportunities to advance BMS Japan’s objectives and visibility in real world research.
応募資格

【必須(MUST)】

Requirements

• More than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, CRO/consulting firms with broad and deep knowledge of RWE activities with a proven successful track record of RWE scientific publications in peer-review journals.

• Master’s degree or above in epidemiology, public health, health services research, biostatistics, health economics or related fields

• Demonstrated ability to engage a complex matrix of internal and external stakeholders to identify and articulate evidence needs and gaps and define RWE plans to address them.

• Knowledge of the Japanese domestic and international trends and pharmaceutical markets including drug development, privacy laws and relevant regulations

• Logical, critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills

• Exhibits Growth mindset: a desire for continuous learning and development; embraces challenges; persists in the face of setbacks; pursues excellence; learns from critical feedback

• Enjoys a culture of diversity and inclusion in the workplace

• Excellent oral, written, presentational communication skills in English. Working knowledge in Japanese is ideal but not mandatory for this role, although the candidate must demonstrate respect and appreciation for Japanese culture, customs and work ethics.
