The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and winning business in the Renewables, Utilities, and Industrial sectors with new and existing customers/partners. The role is part of the Japan Sales team, reporting to the Country Sales Leader and is responsible for delivering the defined annual orders and margin targets for the defined territory.
Responsible for sales of the full Grid Solutions portfolio of products, services, solutions, and projects in Japan including direct and indirect business.
Achieve the orders, margin, down payments, past dues, and other country specific and product line commercial KPI’s defined each year
Formulates and executes proposal strategy, sales agreements and drives customer negotiations
Works with the commercial / Product Line teams to formulate deal structure, pricing, and proposal development.
Maintains SPEAK data quality, opportunity management and adherence to compliance processes for defined opportunities.
Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.
Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

Team player with excellent communication, highly developed EQ, interpersonal and facilitation skills and demonstrated success in working across functions, teams, and product portfolios.
Detailed knowledge of the issues facing the transmission and distribution sectors and the challenges and opportunities coming from the move to increased deployment of renewable energy sources the grid.

Bachelor of Engineering degree. Master's degree from an accredited university or college preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills in Japanese and English
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
