As we are expecting business growth, we are looking for a Public Affairs Specialist to support the creation of a network of governmental stakeholders （politicians and officials） who understand the need for our products in Japan, mainly focusing on improving the understanding of obesity－related products. Also, you will lead on obesity－related patient－focused activities and work flexibly with the Market Access and Communications teams within Market Access ＆ External Affairs （MAEA）, and with other divisions outside MAEA, to ensure a coordinated approach to the obesity market.
Obesity is still a new therapeutic area especially in Japan. There is a huge business potential to this market with large population of patients who are either not diagnosed or being treated, with only one medicine available within the country.
This is a very exciting opportunity that you can take as a lead to step into the new market to address the unmet medical needs that will be highly focused both globally and locally in next 5 to 10 years.
（1） Supports the creation of a network of governmental stakeholders （politicians and officials） who understand the need for our products in Japan, for the main focusing on improving the understanding of obesity－related products:
Supports on the creation and execution of the obesity government relations plan, aimed at improving the understanding of the potential of the pharmaceutical treatment of obesity among governmental stakeholders （politicians and officials） so as to minimize opposition to access to our obesity treatments and identify allies willing to support access to such treatments.
Is responsible for building up a strong understanding of: （i） government and healthcare policy in Japan; （ii） Our obesity products, including pipeline products, and the therapeutic area.
（2） Leads on obesity－related patient－focused activities:
Generates a deep understanding of the characteristics of people with obesity （PwO） in Japan
Develops a behavior therapy support program focusing on diet and exercise, possibly collaborating with other companies and organizations
Investigates the potential for the creation and support of an obesity patient group in Japan
（3） Works closely and flexibly with the Market Access and Communications teams within MAEA, and with other divisions outside MAEA, to ensure a coordinated NNPL to the approach to the obesity market:
Works closely with the Communications team colleagues to identify communication opportunities as well as manage potential risks.
Works closely with the Market Access and Pricing team to ensure that public affairs activity supports and does not cause problems for the price negotiations for obesity products
Works closely with the Obesity Commercialization team to ensure that the public affairs work on obesity is aligned with the commercial objectives.
【必須（MUST）】Bachelor’s degree required
Experience in public or government affairs, or patient group activity is required
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferable but not mandatory
Knowledge and understanding of Japanese government relations and healthcare policy
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical business
Ability to build internal and external networks
Strong project management skills
Excellent writing and speaking skills in Japanese
Strong English skills, written and verbal
Ability to constructively challenge assumptions and directly influence others in a respectful manner
