As a Pre-sales Lead, you will support our entire Go To Market motion (Sales, Sales Engineering, Marketing, etc…) in understanding our platform, our value proposition, and how to position our platform in the market. You will function as the primary technical point of contact between Japan Sales Leadership, Global Sales Engineering Leadership and the Local Sales Engineering team. You will take a consultative approach in helping technical and sales personnel in driving alignment between prospects' needs and our platform. You will serve as a product and industry expert, effectively describing and demonstrating our solution as well as promoting our vision and approach. Primary Responsibilities the first 90 days ● Assess the current team and growth plans. Make a plan for a structure for the team going forward including, but not limited to: ● Team roles - Assess the potential for creating more specific or different roles/profiles to scale team ● Implement Sales Engineering operations metrics ● PoC/PoV Tracking ● Effort/activity tracking ● Learn the product, the Machine Data market, and competition. A candidate who leverages a “player/coach” approach will be highly regarded ● Meet with all of the Sales leaders to hear priorities/concerns and build relationships ● Review PoC/PoV conversion data and investigate success factors |

The following skills and experience are seen as highly desirable: Experience growing and leading an enterprise pre-sales team ● Implementing and executing against career development ladders ● Effective collaboration with sales leaders ● Experience leading technical SE's and selling to technical buyers ● Aptitude to understand modern app development and monitoring processes and app-stack technologies - public cloud, containers, serverless computing, orchestration technologies. ● Experience with ROI and value-focused selling ● Strategy for building out a multi-faceted approach to serving the Sales team - TAM's, technical SE's, strategic SE's, etc. ● Demonstrated ability to grow a team organically ● Business-oriented approach to solving organizational problems - not just a sales engineering team focus ● Experience with implementing activity tracking in a pre-sales model ● International experience and experience with start-ups is viewed positively |
